THE AUTHORITY ON FRP TECHNOLOGY
The firm’s owner and operator, Emilio G. Bermudez, Jnr is one of the pioneers of the industry. In 1960, Mr. Bermudez served as one of the nucleus of the Philippine Fiberglass Corp., formed by Adrian Alfonso the “Godfather of the Philippine FRP”. A licensee of Filon USA, the corporation initially manufactured flat and corrugated FRP sheets. When it was acquired by the Concepcion Industries in 1962, it diversified into other FRP products like pipes, ducts, tanks, and custom built FRP products.
Mr. Bermudez served as production manager of Philippine Fiberglass for seven years until he joined Tropical Industries as a partner in 1967. He also lent his expertise to FRP Products which assigned to the Armed Forces of the Philippines Research and Development Center armory project. Many of today fabricator was trained under him. He was also instrumental in putting up some of the existing FRP companies.
Notable among EGB Industries’ project are the underground fuel storage tanks at the US Embassy at Roxas Blvd., the first in the country. Of those sent for evaluation to US, only MR. Bermudez’s design complied with the coded specifications and thus got the approval of American experts.
In the year 2000 EGB Industries also started to engaged in Construction Industries up-to-present, with their architects and civil engineering team they were able to designed, constructed mostly residential building and successfully handled the projects in-full satisfaction of the owners of which fiberglass fabrication and civil works become their trade expertise.
The secret in the FRP technology as well as with the civil, architectural works is to know how to properly performed or apply the accepted standards in fabrications or constructions and installations. Such expertise is gained only through many years of experience.
